The Environmental Defense Fund has issued a July 2023 report titled:
Turning Climate Commitments into Results: An Update on State-level Climate Targets (“Report”)
The Report’s authors include:
- Katie Schneer, Sr. Analyst, U.S. Climate
- Alex DeGolia, Director, U.S. Climate
The Report is stated to undertake an updated analysis of the greenhouse gas emissions projections for each of the United States states and territories that has committed to reduce their emissions pursuant to the U.S. Nationally Determined Contribution submitted under Article 4 of the Paris Climate Agreement.
Commitments include:
- At least 26% to 28% by 2025
- At least 50% to 52% by 2030
These percentages are compared to 2005 levels.
The referenced states are estimated to include approximately 41% of total United states greenhouse gas emissions.
