The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (“OSHA”) issued a September 27th news release stating it had cited Miskeen Originals, LLC, (“Miskeen”) for alleged violations.
Miskeen is described as a clothing manufacturer in Camden, New Jersey.
OSHA stated it initiated an inspection of the facility after receiving an employee complaint.
The alleged violations include:
- Employee overexposure to methylene
- Failure to provide personal protective equipment
- Failure to conduct a personal protective equipment assessment
- Failure to evaluate respiratory hazards
- Failure to properly maintain for methylene chloride
- Failure to conduct medical evaluations for respirators
- Failure to provide eyewash
- Failure to train employees on how to use fire extinguishers
- Failure to establish a regulated area for employees exposed to methylene chloride
- Failure to implement effective engineering controls
OSHA proposes penalties in the amount of $43,150.
Miskeen has 15 days from receipt of its citations to comply, meet with the OSHA Area Director or contest the findings before the Independent Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
