Discussing Challenging Trends in Employment Policies, Wage & Hour Laws

JONESBORO, ARK. – Mitchell, Williams, Selig, Gates & Woodyard, P.L.L.C., in conjunction with The Payroll Company (TPC), will host a free employment seminar in Jonesboro on Thursday, Jan. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at The Cooper Alumni Center (AState Campus) located at 2600 Alumni Blvd. Employers and human resources professionals are invited to attend.
Attorneys Nate Read, Amanda G. Orcutt and Wade Bowen will present current issues and trends in employment policies and discuss employee handbook “Must Haves” including FMLA, sexual harassment, drug testing and medical marijuana in the workplace. This seminar will also take a deeper dive into the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) wage and hour laws reviewing the new exempt salary basis, classifications, tracking time worked, overtime pay, misclassifications and joint employer issues. Participants will also learn about HR and Payroll reporting requirements and penalties for failing to timely file forms.

About the Presenters
Nathan Read has extensive experience representing employers in all matters of employment law with a focus on employment counseling and employment litigation. Amanda G. Orcutt has extensive experience representing employers in all matters of employment law, both as an advisor and an advocate. She represents businesses in lawsuits brought in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies in a wide range of employment disputes. She counsels clients on various employment matters such as compliance with state and federal law, accommodation of disabilities, and development of employment policies.
Wade Bowen advises businesses and individual clients on a variety of tax and tax-related issues and transactional matters. His practice includes assisting business clients with business formations, business sales and acquisitions, and real estate transactions.
