The United states Supreme Court on July 9th issued a landmark decision in McGirt v. Oklahoma, No. 18-9526, 591 U.S. – (2020).
The decision was addressed in a previous blog post found here.
Google Maps, the world’s leading mapping service, has implemented an overlay of the geographic boundaries of the tribal reservations likely impacted by the McGirt decision. These reservations are owned by the Muscogee (Creek), Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, and Seminole, commonly called the “Five Tribes.”
This new overlay has no legal significance; however, it is extremely useful to roughly approximate what business activities touch on lands owned by one or more of the Five Tribes.
A copy of the Supreme Court decision can be downloaded here.
