The United States Occupational Safety and Health Administration (“OSHA”) issued a March 9th news release stating it had cited Lamm’s Machine Inc. (“LMI”) for violations related to exposure of employees to chemical hazards.
LMI is described as an Allentown, Pennsylvania machine manufacturing company.
OSHA states that it responded to complaints on August 30, 2017, and determined employees had been exposed to hazardous chemical vapors from a degreasing operation in an enclosed space. LMI was cited for allegedly:
- Failing to evaluate the workplace to determine if there was a need for respirators
- Failing to develop a respiratory protection program
- Failing to use effective ventilation systems and respirators
- Failing to ensure proper use of compressed air for cleaning purposes
- Failing to provide proper hand protection
LMI has 15 days from receipt of the citations and penalties to comply, request an informal conference with OSHA’s Area Director, or contest the findings before the independent Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
