The Sierra Club issued a report titled:
2018 Case Study Report – Cities are Ready for 100% Clean Energy (“Report”)
One of the 10 cities addressed is Fayetteville, Arkansas.
The following cities are also discussed in the Report:
- Columbia, South Carolina
- Concord, New Hampshire
- Denton, Texas
- Denver, Colorado
- Minneapolis, Minnesota
- Norman, Oklahoma
- Orlando, Florida
- Santa Barbara, California
- St. Louis, Missouri
The Report describes its focus as “showcasing 10 U.S. cities that have made ambitious commitments to be powered with 100 percent clean, renewable energy like wind and solar.”
As to Fayetteville, Arkansas, the Report notes in part:
- Adopted a community-wide 100% clean energy commitment as part of the city’s Energy Action Plan
- Energy Action Plan outlines steps to transition the city to 100% renewable energy sources by 2050
- Exploring clean energy options with existing utility companies such as Ozark Electric and SWEPCO
- Considering solar investments and energy-efficient upgrades for municipal buildings
- Developing a bike-share program
- Increasing urban tree planting
- Potential investment in electric-vehicle charging stations for the downtown area
