The Arkansas Water Resources Center (“AWRC”) is presenting a Water Webinar on June 27th titled:
Ruination to Restoration to Revitalization: The Story of a Great Lakes Area of Concern.
The Webinar will be held at 12:00 P.M. CDT.
AWRC states that the focus of the Webinar will be the:
…restoration of Muskegon Lake and its associated wetlands in Michigan, covering water quality, ecosystem restoration, and socioeconomics.
The project is described as involving wetland restorations reducing phosphorus concentrations from over 0.8 ppm to 0.03 ppm. Further, the restoration efforts are described as showing a 5.8:1 return on investment or 1 billion in increased shoreline development.
The speaker is Dr. Alan Steinman, PhD, Allen and Helen Hunting Research Professor, Robert B. Annis Water Resources Institute, Grand Valley State University, Allendale, Michigan.
