The United States Army Corps of Engineers (“Corps”) (Vicksburg District) issued a May 1st Public Notice regarding a Section 404 Clean Water Act permit application. See MVK-2024-190.
The applicant is stated to be Buc-ee’s, Ltd.
Buc-ee’s is proposing to conduct regulated activities in waters of the United States for purposes of constructing a Buc-ee’s Benton Travel Center (“Travel Center”). The Travel Center would be located within Saline County, Arkansas.
The proposed project development site is stated to consist of 24.4 acres. This is stated to include:
- 76,500 square foot store
- Parking lots
- Fueling pumps
- Electric vehicle charging stations
- Entrance roads
- Interior road/travelways
Permanent fill of 4.58 acres of herbaceous-emergent wetlands is proposed. This will be due to filling to raise/level the site using 7,400 cubic yards of clean fill material.
Required compensatory mitigation will use credits from the Corps Vicksburg District approved mitigation bank.
