The United States Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) announced that two Arkansas freight carriers have been named winners of the agency’s SmartWay Excellence Award.
The Arkansas freight carriers are:
- J.B. Hunt (Lowell, Arkansas)
- ABF Freight (Fort Smith, Arkansas)
EPA describes the SmartWay Excellence Award as recognizing exceptional achievement in freight performance. Such companies are stated to lead their industries in improving freight efficiency and contributing to cleaner air within their supply chains. A total of 40 companies were chosen from over 3,700 companies and organizations participating in SmartWay.
EPA also notes in an October 29th news release that:
Awardees represent the top performing environmentally responsible SmartWay carriers that move more goods more miles with lower emissions and less energy. Today’s awardees demonstrate how businesses in this crucial economic sector can save on fuel costs, shrink their emissions footprints and contribute to healthier air in the communities they serve.
The winners will be honored at the 2018 American Trucking Associations Annual Management Conference & Exhibition in Austin, Texas.
