The Natural Resources Defense Council (“NRDC”) issued its Fifth Annual Energy Report (“Report”) which is subtitled:
America’s Clean Energy Revolution
A focus of the report is the increase in capacity of both solar and wind energy over the past 10 years.
NRDC concludes that solar and wind energy capacity exceeded the United States Energy Information Administration’s (“EIA”) previous predictions for capacity 10 years ago for both solar and wind. It states that solar energy capacity is 4500 percent higher than prior EIA predictions for solar energy capacity and 350 percent greater than previously predicted for wind energy capacity.
NRDC also states that the EIA prediction for the increase of energy efficiency was mistaken. Energy efficiency is identified at 96.5 quads of energy which is 17 percent below EIA’s projection of 115.6 quads.
