Ozarks Water Watch (“OWW”) issued its annual report (“Report”) summarizing water quality in the Upper White River Basin.
Data from the Report is a result of volunteer efforts which is described as:
. . . more than 3,400 monitoring events across the basin, provide the essential testing data for the 120 lake and stream sites evaluated for this assessment.
The metrics of water quality considered in the Report include:
- Water clarity
- Dissolved oxygen levels
- Types of aquatic invertebrates present
- Laboratory-tested nutrient levels of phosphorus and nitrogen
OWW states that it compared 2018 water testing results to those of six previous years for purposes of identifying progress or decline in general water quality over time.
Water quality was assessed by regions, which included:
James River Watershed
- Beaver Lake Watershed
- Taneycomo Watershed
- Bull Shoals Watershed
- Table Rock Lake Watershed
The overall grade for the Upper White River Basin is C. Individual watershed reports are identified as follows:
