The United States Energy Information Administration (“EIA”) issued an August 17th report titled:
Average U.S. Construction Cost for Onshore Wind Generation Decreased by 27% Since 2013 (“Report”)
The Report states that EIA determined that United States onshore wind generating capacity increased 74% from 2013 to 2019 to a total of gigawatts (“GW”).
Average construction cost for onshore wind generators is stated to have fallen from $1,895 per kilowatt (“kW”) in 2013 to $1,391 kW in 2019. The Report does note that wind capacity in construction cost can vary significantly by region.
Average construction cost for wind capacity in the Southwest Power Pool (“SPP”) and Midcontinent Independent System Operator (“MISO”) were estimated:
- SPP – $1,426 kW
- MISO - $1,636 kW
Both MISO and SPP cover portions of Arkansas.
