The United States Department of Energy (“DOE”) Solar Energy Technologies Office announced a funding opportunity for Fiscal Year 2019.
The funding program is projected to provide $130 million in funding for up to 80 projects that will “advance research in solar energy technologies.”
Five target research areas are identified:
- Photovoltaics (PV)
- Concentrating solar-thermal power (CSP)
- Soft Costs Reduction
- Innovations in Manufacturing
- Solar Systems Integration
DOE states that the projects are intended to assist in the goal of improving:
- Affordability
- Reliability
- Performance of Solar Technologies on the Grid
DOE states that it is seeking:
. . . diverse teams comprising members of companies and community organizations, researchers, solar developers, and other stakeholders who work across various technology sectors, locations, and scientific disciplines.
A list of organizations that have volunteered to be project partners will be published.
