The United States Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) has issued an August 22nd Project Notification titled:
Evaluation of Importers’ and Manufacturers’ Chemical Data Reporting Under the Toxic Substance Control Act
See Project No. OPE-FY17-0025.
The August 22nd memorandum is authored by Jeffrey Harris, Director, Toxics Chemical Management and Pollution Prevention Evaluation, Office of Program Evaluation. Mr. Harris states that OIG plans to begin preliminary research to assess Chemical Data Reporting (“CDR”) under the Toxic Substance Control Act (“TSCA”).
The objectives identified for the evaluation are stated to include a determination of:
-
how the EPA is ensuring that companies are compliant with CDR requirements under TSCA
-
whether the EPA is using CDR data to prioritize imported and manufactured chemicals for the purpose of identifying the potential for human health and environmental risk
A copy of the Project Notification can be downloaded here.
