The U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (“Association”) announced its annual Clean Water Awards at the organization’s 2023 Environmental Management Seminar in an October 16th news release.
Two Tyson Foods Arkansas facilities were recognized.
The Association states that the awards are presented annually to:
. . . poultry facilities that excel in their commitment to treat wastewater to standards that meet and often exceed their permit requirements, identify water reuse opportunities and implement initiatives to advance overall sustainability of the facility.
Awards are given in two categories:
- Full Treatment
- Pretreatment
The Tyson Foods’ par-fry facility in Russellville, Arkansas was selected as the winner in the pretreatment category.
The Tyson Foods’ facility in North Little Rock, Arkansas, was recognized as an honorable mention with distinction in the pretreatment category.
Other award winners included:
- Wayne-Sanderson Farms’ broiler processing facility in Tyler, Texas in the full treatment category
- Keystone Foods in Albany, Kentucky, with an honorable mention with distinction award in the pretreatment category
The Association describes itself as the All-Feather-Association progressively serving its poultry and egg members through research, education, communication and technical services.
