The United States Geological Survey (“USGS”) released an annual document titled:
Mineral Commodity Summaries 2024 (“Report”)
The Report provides data and information for various mineral commodities such as:
- Events
- Trends
- Issues
- Discussion in tabular presentations on domestic industry structure
- Government programs
- Tariffs
- Five-year salient statistics
- World production reserves
- Resources
Ninety individual minerals and materials are addressed in the Report.
The National Mining Association in addressing the Report noted that the United States is still reliant on imports for more than one-half of its consumption for 49 nonfuel mineral commodities and 100% import dependent for 15 of them.
